As a local Perth home builder, we know how important it is for you to be happy in your new home. So before we hand you the keys, you will have your PCI. A Practical Completion Inspection (PCI) is when you and your supervisor walk through your home. Because your home is over 90% complete, you will be able to look at the finishing touches and advise your supervisor if there are any issues that need to be fixed.
After your PCI, your supervisor will arrange for any items to be fixed and the final pieces to be finished. This includes removing protective equipment and cleaning the house. Any issues are rectified so we can arrange your Handover Inspection and hand you the keys!
FAQs about PCI
When will my PCI happen?
Your supervisor or client liaison will book in your Practical Completion Inspection when your home is able to be occupied. This means that all the items in your building contract have been included, such as floor coverings and cabinetry.
What happens at my PCI?
You will meet with your supervisor and walk through your home. We encourage our clients to turn on the taps, flush the toilet, and light the stove. This is so we can check that everything is working as it should be. Your supervisor will make a note of any issues that need to be rectified.
Can I organise my own inspector?
Absolutely! Some of our clients feel more confident going through the home with a professional they’ve hired, especially if they’ve never built a home. It’s also common for some first home buyers to bring their parents along.
What happens after PCI?
If you have any items to be rectified, your supervisor will arrange for them to be fixed. During this time, your bank will arrange for your final payment to be made so you can get your keys and move in!
Do I get my keys at PCI?
Not yet, but you’re close! Two things will happen before you can pick up your keys. First, we will fix the items identified in your PCI. Second, we will need to receive your final payment from the bank and make sure any outstanding variations have been paid. Once those two items have occurred, we will reach out to pick up your keys!
